We’re here!

We made it!

It was a bit of a slog getting here - we are now officially NOT fans of British Airways.  Two long red-eyes in a row made for two very tired, cranky travelers.

Once we got to O.M. Tambo Airport in Johannesburg, we picked up our rental car (that went smoothly).  However, opting to take the more scenic drive (rather than the slightly longer freeway route) to our first stay turned out to be a bad idea, as we ended up following a seriously overloaded truck at about 5 mph through more than an hour’s worth of road construction.  It wasn’t a matter of mistakenly taking a “scenic route” - both of us have been here before, and John’s driven this road several times - it really should have been a great drive.

And our GPS isn’t working.

But we made it!

We arrived in the beautiful little town of Clarens, checked into our hotel, and walked up to a pub on the town square for dinner.

John felt right at home when he spotted a couple of BMW bikes just like his.

Our hotel room looks out over the mountains, the bed is comfy...

There’s just one thing missing -

Yep - that’s where my suitcase should be.  British Airways is supposed to deliver it, but I’ll believe it when I see it.  Thankfully, I always pack extra socks and undies in my carry-on just in case.
