On the road again 🎵
On Monday morning we had breakfast with the two other couples that were staying at the B&B - both happened to be from Germany, but they weren’t traveling together. We had gotten to know them last night when we all opted to have dinner at the B&B, as well.

It’s a popular lunch place with good food and a delightful array of old diesel pumps, signs, etc.

“Ronnie’s Sex Shop” is a famous roadside attraction that’s 1) NOT a porn shop, and 2) the result of a practical joke. Ronnie bought the derelict building with plans to restore it and open a roadside fruit and vegetable stand (there’s a lot of produce grown in this area). In the midst of his renovations, some of his buddies decided to play a joke and paint “Ronnie’s Sex Shop” on the wall in the middle of the night (alcohol may have been involved). Ronnie though it was hilarious, and subsequently changed his plan and decided to make it a pub, instead. The rest, as they say, is history - it’s now a family-friendly lunch stop and pub. Other than women’s lingerie hanging from the ceiling in the bar, there’s no sex to be found anywhere.

There’s one other cottage, but no one’s there, as well as a covered barbecue area and a “lapa” (gathering place) for our use. (All of this cost $67 per night.) The cottages have kitchens and are usually “self-catering,” but we’d paid for breakfast. Since we were the only guests, they had us go to the gourmet restaurant next door for breakfast. It was wonderful! Excellent food presented beautifully -

After breakfast we packed up and hit the road again, this time heading for the town of Robertson (where we’ve never been before) by way of two familiar stops.
The first was lunch at Diesel & Creme - a fun spot in the small town of Barrydale that we discovered on our first trip to South Africa five years ago.

Our next stop isn’t what it looks like...

We arrived at our rural B&B near the town of Robertson in late afternoon. Our host didn’t expect us - not the first time with Booking.com - but we had our confirmation, so no problem. As a matter of fact, it appears that we were the only guests.
We had reserved a separate cottage, located about a quarter mile away from the main house.
We even have our own personal swimming pool.

Those are fresh baked rolls and croissants, and this is just the first course - our choice of hot breakfast followed.
The small dining area overlooked a garden of native South African trees and plants.
The only downside was the smell of creosote in the cottage - the interior supporting poles had been treated to keep the termites from eating them.
